Delivering High-Quality Ethernet Service to Multiple Offices

The customer was a real estate company with two satellite offices scattered around the sunshine coast. One of these offices had FTTP while the other office had slow ADSL2+. They were after a value for money Ethernet service for high speed connectivity between their offices.

In planning its service roll, RVC ICT had to overcome one major obstacle: there were trees hindering the line of sight.

The only possible solution would have to be a relay point between the two sites. But in the Sunshine Coast that is not a simple trick. The Sunshine Coast is a dense urban area with tall foliage spread out and dense radio noise from consumer equipment. To provide a solution that would indeed be able to overcome these challenges, they turned to RVC ICT.

RVC ICT’s proposal was based on Ubiquiti NanoBeam series of broadband wireless radios. NanoBeam point-to-point Ethernet radios would serve as our main network with a relay point. The NanoBeam series supports up to 150Mbps aggregated throughput using a 22dBi antenna in a small form factor.

Roof space for the antennas were provided in lieu of internet access speeds 10/10 broadband services offered to the resort and the links were fed into a cisco switch for pass-through. The relay point offered line of sight between the two offices and a stable, fast connection was secured.
